Gary Kremer died in a BASE jumping accident on Sunday, June 26, 2016. Gary was jumping The Chief near Squamish, British Columbia in Canada, wearing a wingsuit. According to posts at basejumper.com, Gary was first to exit, in calm conditions; he appeared to have had difficulties gaining forward momentum to clear obstacles, causing him to deploy close to the ground. His container allegedly opened but canopy extraction was reportedly just beginning at time of impact. Gary was a current and active BASE jumper and familiar with the location.
Gary is remembered as a happy, energetic person, well loved in the communities of BASE and skydiving as self-nicknamed “Jewbag” or “JBag.” We send our sincerest condolences to Gary’s girlfriend, family and friends around the world.
